Karin Reithofer

Mag. Dr. Karin Reithofer, M.A. (ORCID; u:cris) is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Translation Studies in Vienna whose main research interest are interpreting and English as a lingua franca (ELF), interpreting and language policy in international organisations and interpreter training.

She holds a degree in interpreting from the University of Graz, an MA in conference interpreting from the University of Westminster and wrote her PhD thesis at the University of Vienna where she was a researcher in the FWF project QuaSI (Quality in simultaneous interpreting).

Her publications include several articles - including in the John Benjamins journal Interpreting and the Routledge Encyclopedia of Interpreting Studies – as well as a monograph on English as a lingua franca and interpreting and a textbook on translation methodology together with Mira Kadrić and Klaus Kaindl. She has been a reviewer for various journals and publications, including for Interpreting and Routledge.

Apart from the University of Vienna, she also taught interpreting at Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania, and in Graz and is a freelance conference interpreter and full member of AIIC, working mostly for the EU institutions, with an accreditation for English, Italian, Spanish and Romanian.
