The Vienna Interpreting Research Group (VIRG) conducts research on interpreting across a range of settings and domains, using a variety of methodological tools and approaches. Its work is underpinned by a broad conceptualisation of interpreting that includes not only interlingual but also intralingual and cross-modal translational processes and acknowledges the transformative role of digital technologies in professional practice and training. Members of this research group embrace an integrated view of interpreting and aim to conduct not only basic research but also studies and projects that respond to current and emerging social challenges and needs.
